Overall:★★

Located on the bottom floor of the SkyView Center, Royal Beauty delivered a great service with a surprisingly quick turn around. Dali and I both got removal and art within two hours. The total bill was around $160.00. Yes, that was for both of our nails. Crazy.

STUDIO: ★

For a mall studio the facilities are good, but they are not spectacular. This would not be a salon I would go to for the ambiance, i.e. Maniboo. The vibe is sort of second hand royal, if you know what I mean. The gold drapes along the windows and walls emulate the studio’s name, but with all the traffic they get from the mall everything feels very used. That being said it’s clean and the pedicure stations are built in to the back wall. Last time I passed by they were playing Thor on the TV, which I think would be fun to watch while you were getting your nails done. The staff is very nice and friendly, so although the facilities have worn down the service has not.

NAIL CARE: ★★★

The technicians supported each one of my nails as they were filing, which I like look for in a studio since my nails are thin and have broken during filing before. They did not cut the proximal fold (that is sometimes confused with the cuticle), and only cut some of the dead skin around my nails that could in time cause hang nails. They pushed the cuticle back so if you are not a fan of this procedure then let them know ahead of time, but keep in mind it’s not bad for you. My nails are still feeling healthy, clean and are growing out strong.

ART: ★★★

I went into the studio without a design in mind (my annoyingly go-to move) so after a short discussion with my technician and a quick look through their look book I decided on the above blue, paint stroke design. Dali went in with a couple of designs in mind, and since we were pressed for time she went with a simpler design then she normally would. Their look book had other more complicated designs, so if you are looking for something at a higher level than what we choose, this studio is still a good option. My tech spent a lot of time making the brush strokes look just right and picking out the different pieces of silver foil to go on top. When I picked out the design I thought that underneath the paint strokes was just clear, but then my tech brought out a grayish color. As I looked at the picture again - very, very closely - it became clear that the underneath color was a light tan grey, and I was super impressed by her attention to detail. I would love to go back and get something more involved because I have a feeling it would come out really spectacular.

LONGEVITY: ★★

We’re two weeks out and man my nails have been growing fast. The polish on the ring finger on my right hand has lifted, so sad timez, but it’s been long enough, sort of, so I’m not totally disappointed. Gel just always lifts off my hands, I don’t know what it is. Dali’s nails of course have not lifted and probably never will. If the day comes I’ll make a very large announcement about it.
