Cardi B. v Dua Lipa, Who Wore the Best Nail Look of the 2019 Grammys

Ha-ha! I hope you laughed at that meme as much as I did. The Grammys were sometime in the recent time space continuum and I watched begrudgingly because, you know, celebrity culture is toxic, but it’s time to be my best zen self and appreciate the artistry of the two hottest nail looks of the night, those of Cardi B (Rrrrrrt) and Dua Lipa (who to my knowledge does not make strange sounds).

Dua Lipa’s 2019 grammys look

Dua’s nail artist Kimmie Kyees used nail polishes by a brand called “defy & INSPIRE” which is sold by Target. The bottle of loose glitter polish is really the star of the show. The jewels and embellishments were from Kimmie’s own hoard which you can see on the last slide of her instagram post. The silver was coordinated with Dua Lipa’s red carpet dress, but I think the gold accents also played pretty well with the dress she wore during her performance with St.Vincent.

Cardi B’s 2019 Grammys look

Cardi flew the amazing Jenny Bui out to L.A. this week to have her nails done for the Grammys. Good choice too since she won best rap album! Cardi wanted to be cool and elegant this year so they went with OPI’s Machu-Peach-u neutral tan color as the base. Jenny then placed Swarovski crystals in “v” formations along where the nail plate turns to the free nail. The resulting look was more subtle than many of her past looks, but it still has that wow factor with Jenny’s signature bling. Since we’re coming up on V-day, I heard that Jenny also enjoyed a much deserved vacation in Cali afterwards with her husband.
